Biography
James “Ed” DeGrange, Sr. was elected to the
Senate of Maryland from District 32 in 1998. As Senator he has
served on the Budget and Taxation and Finance committees.
Currently, he serves on the Budget and Taxation Committee, is Chair
of the Subcommittee on Public Safety, Transportation and the
Environment, is Chair of the Subcommittee on Capital Budget and is
Vice-Chairman of the Executive Nominations Committee. Also, Senator
DeGrange represented District 2 as Councilman on the Anne Arundel
County Council.
Senator DeGrange sponsored the BWI Enhancement
legislation, which is the first of its kind in the nation and
established an advisory committee which reviews and recommends the
distribution of funds to communities surrounding the airport.
Senator DeGrange graduated from Glen Burnie
High School and was a member of the United States Army Reserve. He
is married to his wife, Nora, with three children and six
grandchildren.
Senator DeGrange was owner and Vice-President
of DeGrange Lumber Company, Inc., President of DeGrange Enterprises,
Inc, and is currently employed by Baltimore Washington Medical
Center.
He is President and member of the Board of
Directors of the Glen Burnie Mutual Savings Bank and a member of the
Baltimore Washington Medical Center Foundation Board. He has
coached in youth sports and is an active member of: Holy Trinity
Church, the Knights of Columbus Holy Trinity Council 3413, the Glen
Burnie Improvement Association, President of Take Back Our Streets,
District 32 Democratic Club, West Anne Arundel Democratic Club, the
Rotary Club of Glen Burnie, and the Glen Burnie High School and
North County High School Business Advisory Boards. Previously, he
was President of the Rotary Club of Glen Burnie and was honored with
their Paul Harris Fellow Award.
Ed is a community minded individual who extends
himself personally for the betterment of those he serves. He enjoys
his free time with his family and friends and is an avid sports
enthusiast.
